From its foundation (1662) Ivano-Frankivsk has been the residence place for representatives of different nationalities: Polish, Jewish, Armenian and Ukrainian, and later German. The acquaintance with Stanislaviv begins with the largest monument to Ivan Franko, located near the Nadiya Hotel. Walk along pedestrian Nezalezhnosti (Independence) Street with picturesque cafés and restaurants. Viche Square with the largest fountain in the city, the Central building of the Medical Academy built in an eclectic style with a courtyard, a cozy and small square with a monument to Adam Mickiewicz as well as a beautiful building of the Polish society "Sokil" (Falcon). During the walking tour we'll pay special attention to the "Bastion" fortress, where we'll see exhibitions of forged sculptures,  paintings, buy interesting souvenirs, and see how the glorious city of Stanislaviv was built by the famous Frenchman of Italian origin Francois Corassini. During the sightseeing tour, you will visit the memorable places of the nationalities who lived in it: the temples, the Cathedral of the Holy Resurrection, which is decorated with a five-tiered iconostasis, the Armenian Church, the synagogue, houses and schools.
